Hi All

With the number of platforms available to us these days, I'm unsure the best way to get this announcement out to our members, but I'm using TeamApp because I didn't want this to be an announcement to the general public, just to the members of the Geelong Baycats.

I have decided that after 10 years as club coach, two years as a committee member, and four years as President, it is time for me to step down from the leadership of the Baycats.

I love the the Geelong Baseball Club with all my heart and despite my long involvement, I still feel like I have a debt to repay. The Club has offered me so many opportunities and I am so thankful for the friends I've made over the years and the memories we've created. However, I have a growing list of priorities outside baseball that need my attention, and I think the time is right for renewal at the Baycats.

I'd like to thank all that have assisted me over the last 16 years, especially Badja, Forbesy, Millsy, Gibbo, Dursto, Donny, Woody and Adam Renouf (wow, Adam really needs a nickname!)... there are many, many more I could name, but this group stand out for me.

We have sustained success at our Club now for over a decade, but I acknowledge that we are in need of new ideas and new energy to continue to capitalize on the great foundations we've built. Change in leadership can be confronting, but it's how great organisations find new ways to improve and grow.

I have been asked if I will be searching for my replacement. To be honest, I don't believe that's how this process should work. The leadership of our Club is every member's responsibility, and everyone should see it as an opportunity to step up, or to guide forward someone they trust.

This announcement is a call to arms to all members to take responsibility for the leadership of our Club, to seek out the right person to lead us forward, or to put yourself in the position to make a difference to the future of the Baycats. I encourage you all to look within yourself, or to reach out to someone you think capable and start the process of locking in the next President of our Club

The Club AGM is scheduled for May 8. At that meeting, nominations will be sought and you will have the opportunity to give someone the privilege to lead the Baycats forward. Please don't wait for the night or leave it to others to carry the Baycats into the future... be a great Baycats member and be part of the excitement of new leadership now.
